Jazz dance classes are fun and energetic. They include such elements as kicks, leaps, turns, splits, and isolations. Jazz Classes include stretch and strengthening exercises, floor work, and across the floor progressions in addition to a center floor combinations.
Jazz dance blends the techniques of both ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz dance also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Jazz dance can take on many different characteristics and styles, including Street Jazz, Percussive, Broadway, Contemporary and Lyrical.
A deep focus is placed on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style. Each level of jazz is a continuation of the previous level and increases in difficulty.
Jazz Dance Classes at Kick!
Kick offers Jazz classes in all levels, from Jazz I for beginners to Platinum level advanced training!
Jazz I – This class starts with the basics including kicks, leaps, turns and flexibility in this fun class!
Pearl Jazz – a natural progression from Jazz I where dancers develop technical skills and style. Leaps, turns, kicks and combinations are part of the fun
Sapphire Jazz – Dancers progress to more complex combinations and skills.
Emerald Jazz– For dancers that have substantial previous dance training. Builds on understanding more intricate choreography and fast-paced movement with a focus on developing style and strong technique.
Ruby Jazz – For dancers with 4+ years of serious training, this class develops strong technique and clean basics while introducing more challenging skills like Axels, Switch leaps, and a la seconde turns.
Diamond and Platinum Jazz – Our highest levels for dedicated, serious dancers who train 6-12 hours per week in all genres of dance.
